Ps4 keeps auto downloading game

Oct 25, 1, No Man's Sky was doing this to me. After I played the PS5 version for a little bit and created a PS5 save file it seems to have fixed it.

Having the same issue but it just occurred to me that you can use the sort option to determine the different versions. Can you try that? Not close to my console at the moment. Absolutely stupid. Thought I had to copy the disc and then update it to the PS5 version. Instead, I should've just clicked on the PS Store icon on the right side of the screen that directly downloads the PS5 version.

If everything works like it's supposed to you'll only ever see the PS5 version icon in the UI. So wait,,, you get a pop up when you put the disk in the ps5? So its not like on ps4 and in auto installs if you put the disk in the system? OK, I did a little testing and the problem seems to be strictly with restarting or turning on the PS5 with the disc already inside. They just need to tweak the firmware a bit to change the order of things. My guess is when you power on it spins the disc up and starts to copy before checking if the PS5 version is already installed.

That's how mine is acting now anyway. The second is that it only checks for updates to games that have been played recently. My own experience backs this up, but this still provides an inexact understanding at best. The daily morning sweeps are also somewhat frustrating. But it seems that lots of other games, like Anthem , tend to miss that cut-off, leaving me to face lengthy downloads after getting off work.

There are, of course, workarounds, the most tried and true of which includes going to the PlayStation Store on a computer or your phone and downloading any free background theme. Hopefully the PlayStation 5 has enough horsepower to update all the games in my library multiple times a day. Also, why after waiting for a game update to download does it take soooooooo freaking long to copy files or whatever the hell it does for an hour on some games for me?
