I have an iphone 4s with many ringtones--I can see them on my phone, select them, and use them--but only 3 are appearing in my itunes under tones.
And yes, I have regularly backed up this iphone. All the ringtones were purchased through itunes on my 4s. I did not convert or make any on my own.
